Which is the Best Eyelash Serum? A Comparison of Eyelash Serums by Testing!

Before we reveal which serum has proved to be the best one, you have to know what it is and how it works. Here is a brief summary before we go there.

The bad news is: most eyelash serums do not bring the desired success.

The good news is: there are a few that actually lengthen your eyelashes.

What is an “Eyelash Serum”?

An eyelash serum contains nourishing ingredients promoting growth that penetrate the hair roots and helps you get thicker and longer eyelashes. The serum is applied with a thin eyeliner brush finely on the eyelash base, as in an eyeliner stroke. It is very important for the liquid to reach the roots of the eyelashes. Only when hair follicles absorb the serum is cell growth stimulated.

Therefore please note: an eyelash serum that needs to be applied by a brush along the length of the eyelashes will not work!!!

How does eyelash serum function?

In order to evaluate the different advertisement claims one ought to know that the natural eyelashes life cycle is of three months, from the time of emerging out of the hair follicles to falling off. However, success pre-empts the presence of hair follicles in the first place.

In view of this biological fact, advertising claims like “…visibly just after a week” or “…extended growth phase…” cannot hold good, since an increase in eyelash growth can basically manifest only after 3-4 weeks, and unfortunately even longer than normal eyelashes fall off in about 3 months, since younger eyelashes that have formed in the follicles “push out” older ones.

On the other hand, the assertion is really true that the gorgeous effect can last only if the eyelash serum is used regularly. Whereas daily application is recommended in the beginning phase, once they grow to the desired length, the eyelash serum need only be used once every two to three days. The effect again starts wearing off within 4-6 weeks upon discontinuing use of the serum.

What does one have to look out for in the selection of an eyelash serum?

We stumbled upon the “origins” of the eyelash serum boom in the course of our research. The first successful product of its kind, as in the case of penicillin, was also discovered by accident while using a medicine made by the American company called Allergan. The medicine known as Lumigan is used to treat Glaucoma. A healthy growth of eyelashes was observed as a side effect in patients using this medicine. This led the manufacturer to investigate the cause behind this effect. Lumigan contains the ingredient called Bimatoprost, and hey presto Allergan developed an eyelash growth serum containing Bimatoprost (and an analogue called Prostaglandin). It goes by the name ‘Latisse’, which unfortunately is not sold in European markets.

In the last couple of years, a lot of companies hoping to get a piece of this pie have jumped on the bandwagon, offering expensive serums, with only a few of them having the desired effect.

From our analysis of ingredients, we reached the sobering conclusion that most eyelash serums only ever contain ingredients like vitamins, ginseng, collagen, biotin, algin, almond oil, panthenol, hyaluronic acids and the like. These can have a nourishing effect but do not impact growth in the case of scant eyelashes.

The ingredient that really affects eyelash growth is a Prostaglandin analogue. An analogue in the world of medicine is a synthetically produced hormone-like substance, the effects of which on the human body compare with those of a specific natural substance.

And of course this ingredient has to penetrate the eyelash roots. That is why you had best ignore eyelash serums that prescribe applying serum with a brush along the length of the eyelashes and not at the base of the eyelashes.

Which eyelash serum should I buy?

There are so many different products available on the market how is one to find a really effective one without shelling out a fortune and spending too much time? After all, one has to test over a period of 1-2 months at least to find out whether something is really effective, and then start all over again if the product does not work.

In order to be able to recommend the right product to our customers, we at https://www.eyelashes24.com/ have tested 20 different eyelash serums on 10 different women over a period of 2 years. The results were sobering to say the least: more than 17 products had no effect at all. We found that only 4 brands could be recommended. All of them brought perceptible eyelash growth. We will now present those four to you:

Which is the best eyelash serum?

1st Position:  XXL Lashes Eyelash Serum

The XXL Lashes eyelash serum is our price-performance winner in the eyelash and eyebrow serum category. Its combination of ingredient based on a Prostglandine analogue, demonstrates excellent tolerability and can be relied on for greater eyelash growth and thickness.

We could see significant growth in eyelashes on all women tested upon, within the first 3 weeks itself. 6 women used the XXL Lashes eyelash and eyebrow serum on their scant eyebrows with success and were very pleased at the visible improvement.

2nd Position: Evoeye Eyelash Intense

Evoeye Eyelash Intense shares the 2nd position in our estimation.

Evidently others share this opinion too, going by the excellent reviews it received, besides coming with a 100% satisfaction guarantee as well.

Nevertheless, one should not be taken in completely by the before-after pictures. None of the existing serums can honestly produce those results.

Price on Amazon is 52.77 GBP for 3ml

3rd Position: ORPHICA Realash Eyelash Serum

Realash is a good eyelash serum. Like the XXL Lashes serum it contains the hormone Bimatoprost, an ingredient from the Prostaglandine analogue group. The before-after pictures in the product description are genuine and also bear out our product perception. We have given the third spot only because at 47.00 GBP on Amazon for just 3 ml the price is much steeper than a comparable product, the XXL Lashes serum.

4th Position: Nutralash Eyelash – Active Eyelash- and Eyebrow Serum

We were also satisfied with the Nutralash eyelash serum in terms of eyelash growth, but it slid in ranking to a lower position on account of its steep pricing.

It is priced at 69.00 GBP on Amazon for 3 ml

The truth about eyelash serums

3 ml of all the serums presented here can last for approximately two to three months when used daily on the eyelash line.

There are unfortunately only a few that actually work. Out of the 21 products that we tested, 17 were completely ineffective. Many of them were cheap products that made us wonder how they could at all get positive reviews on Amazon. Though expensive products too did not make the mark!

The price difference is huge, on the whole. So too are the differences and impressions! Images such as these that clearly use fake eyelashes got our goat for a bit. Such results are hardly realistic!

We have illustrated the potential outcome of using serum. We think it’s great and hope you can find a favourite among the various serums that you can apply on your eyelashes and eyebrows.
